Egypt has limited resources, insufficient to generate enough income for the ever-increasing population, that increases by 10 million every second year. Farm land is decreasing due to the invasion of big cities. Egypt is not a big exporter of industrial products. Egypt relies heavily on forein aid provided by world big industrial nations like the U.S.A., Britain, France, Germany, Japan and others. Egypt has to import wheat to feed its people with bread.
Employment is in short supply, and the wages are extremely low. Graduate medical students get a salary of $40.00 a month, while a plumber may make that much in three days. There are no statistics of unemployment. Thousands of people are without work, especially labourers. Egypt has never been able to establish an adequate welfare system to care for its poor and helpless. No unemployment system that would help the unemployed in their search for a job and offer them monthly compensation until they find one. Universal medical care is non-existent in Egypt and this leaves the poor vulnerable to die without getting the humanitarian care they deserve. This deplorable situation has encouraged many people to apply for jobs in neighbouring Arab nations or to immigrate to Canada, the USA, or Australia. These are usually people with skills, and capable to afford the cost of moving out of Egypt.
